The Uttar Pradesh government is set to hold a special cabinet meeting at the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj today. The meeting, scheduled for noon, will be followed by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and his cabinet ministers taking a ceremonial dip in the sacred waters of the Triveni Sangam.
Prashant Kumar, the Director General of Police of Uttar Pradesh, confirmed the details of the meeting, stating, “The cabinet meeting will be held at noon, after which the Chief Minister and all the cabinet ministers will take a holy dip at the Maha Kumbh. We have thoroughly inspected the preparations and are working to provide better facilities for everyone attending the event.”
UP Minister of State for Minority Welfare, Danish Azad Ansari, emphasized the government’s commitment to driving development in the state. “There is a cabinet meeting in Prayagraj today. We aim to take Uttar Pradesh’s development to new heights. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, our government is focusing on youth empowerment, the development of women, and other key areas. I believe we will make Uttar Pradesh a ‘Uttam Pradesh’,” Ansari stated.
UP Minister of State (Independent Charge) Dinesh Pratap Singh described the occasion as a moment of pride. “This is a moment of pride for us. We will take a dip in the Ganga with our families and cabinet ministers. This is the first time this is happening, and we are united in our efforts for the benefit of the state,” Singh said.
Swatantra Dev Singh, the UP Jal Shakti Minister, reflected on the significance of the event, stating, “This is Sanatan Dharma, this is our tradition, and our history. The whole world is watching us. Our government is welcoming devotees with open arms.”
A total of 54 ministers from the Uttar Pradesh cabinet have been invited to attend the meeting, which is expected to approve several important proposals and schemes aimed at the state’s welfare.
Jaiveer Singh, a UP minister, called it a historic day, linking the meeting to the previous year’s significant moment in Ayodhya. “On this day last year, after 500 years of struggle and sacrifice, ‘Ram Lalla’ became ‘virajman’ in Ayodhya. Today, we have the opportunity to attend the world’s largest spiritual gathering of the Maha Kumbh. It’s a blessing from God that we have this opportunity,” Singh said. “All members of the Cabinet will take a holy dip in the Triveni Sangam today.”
After the cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, accompanied by his ministers, will participate in the ceremonial dip at the Triveni Sangam. This is not the first time CM Yogi has led his cabinet to the Sangam; during the 2019 Kumbh Mela, he took a ceremonial dip along with his ministers, Akhada Parishad President Narendra Giri, and other prominent religious figures.
Maha Kumbh is one of the largest and most significant religious events in the world. Upcoming key ‘snan’ dates include January 29 (Mauni Amavasya – Second Shahi Snan), February 3 (Basant Panchami – Third Shahi Snan), February 12 (Maghi Purnima), and February 26 (Maha Shivaratri).
For security, over 10,000 police personnel, including local and paramilitary forces, have been deployed, and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has stationed a “water ambulance” at the Sangam to ensure the safety of the millions of devotees attending the event.
The Maha Kumbh began on January 13 and will continue until February 26.
